How'd That Happen?

This, my friends, is what you would call a culprit. A culprit of what crime, you might ask. Well, the crime of causing mass chaos in the Looper house.

We knew we were going to have to get a new refrigerator when we found this:

Yes, that's the seal around the door of said refrigerator. We noticed a while back that the door wasn't closing very well, and as the weeks wore on, the gap got worse and worse until we were faced with the sad reality that we were going to have to replace the fridge.

That's not the big deal because we were planning to use some of our tax refund to replace the fridge and South Caroline just initiated the Cash for Appliances program, so this was really not a bad time to have to do this. The real problem is that when we looked at the old refrigerator we realized that it was T-I-N-Y. I mean, it was really, really small. I guess I never noticed because this is my first house, and I didn't know what I was missing.

We started looking at replacements, and we were going to have to special order a small refrigerator for the hole, so of course instead of settling for a small fridge, we just moved it from one wall to the other, which meant my dad had to come over and help us move electrical and water to the other side of the kitchen.

You can probably see now that this was a bigger project that we had originally thought. Now, since we moved the fridge from one side to the other, we had to put down new floors, right?

And if you put in new floors, you need new countertops, and then of course the paint doesn't match either the floors or the new countertops, so you have to paint. And since you're going to have the countertops out anyway, you should probably get a better sink, and you've never really like the light fixture, so that should go too. Oh, and there's a big hole where the old fridge was so that's a perfect place for a new pantry.

Sheesh!

So, here we are.

The new floors are in and the fridge is moved. Jason's working on countertops this weekend (he's attempting to tile them - I'll let you know how it goes), and next weekend we're painting. It's a real project for sure.

Nothing's been done in this kitchen since the house was built in 1994, so it is high time something changed.

And it all happened in the name of ice in the door.

are you going to put the oven back? hehehe. Also, what color are you going to paint the kitchen? The yellow is awesome! Love the new kitchen. So excited for you!
